The St. Croix then proceeded to Hai Phong harbor in Vietnam (then known as Indochina), to retrieve Chinese troops destined for Taiwan. War continued between the Nationalist Chinese government and the People's Liberation Army until 1949, ending with the victory of the PLA and the Nationalist forces moving to Taiwan.
