Status - 40th Indiana - 4th Army Corps - 2nd Division - 2nd Brigade
By this time the 40th Indiana had been transferred to Texas, stationed at Green Lake near Port Lavaca. Union troops had recently come to Texas, declaring the end to slavery officially on June 19th (Juneteenth). The regiment would remain in Texas, between Port Lavaca and San Antonio, until December.
