Status - John Skinner - USS Daly:
USS Daly (DD-519) -New Guinea
July 30th:. Arrived early morning at Cape Sansapor and began patrol duty north of landing zone. Continued patrol all day. Temperatures 80s, light winds.
July 31st:Finished patrol duty and proceeded to anchorage at Mios Woendi in the Papaido Islands, near Biak Island. Fueling late morning; moored for the rest of the day. Temperatures 80s-90s, light breezes.
August 1st: Moored all day at Mios Woendi. Temperatures 80s, light breezes.
August 2nd: Moored all day at Mios Woendi. Temperatures 80s, light breezes.

The successful landings around Cape Sansapor began the final operations in New Guinea. Once the various action areas were cleared, the next jump would be to Morotai Island, which is half the remaining distance to the Philippine Islands.In the Marianas, Tinian is secured on August 1st.
