Status - John Baer - 40th Indiana Regiment - Granger's Corps - Sheridan's Division - Wagner's Brigade
General Schofield has not yet reached Knoxville but is hurrying there to relieve General Foster. Sheridan's division is ordered to Campbell Station - an order later rescinded - but they appear to have gone there nonetheless. Leave for all regiments has been temporarily postponed.
Sherman begins his march from Vicksburg toward Meridian, Mississippi.
