Status - John Baer - 40th Indiana Regiment - Granger's Corps - Sheridan's Division - Wagner's Brigade
General Sheridan's brigade is at Loudon, TN on Jan 24th. There remains great uncertainty whether Longstreet's Confederate army is preparing to attack or not. This results in various sets of orders, but by the 27th, Sheridan's men are still at Loudon. General Foster, who has been in overall command in East Tennessee despite a severe leg wound, is relieved as commander on the 27th.
Sherman
continues to organize his Mississippi expedition, and numerous parts of the army in Western Tennessee and Mississippi are in motion.
